In 2012, our mother Cassie Dandridge Selleck self-published her first completed novel. Like most writers, she had always been told not to expect to make a living in the industry. With nothing to lose, she set out to independently publish The Pecan Man.
Having now sold over 150,000 books world wide in less than four years, she IS making a living - and a good one - and she is joyfully living a writer's life.
Some people say her experience is an anomaly, that this level of success is rare and probably can't be repeated. But she and her obstinate daughters say, "Oh, yes it can."
We believe there are many writers out there with similar potential, good stories waiting to be told and an audience waiting to hear them. Our goal is to supply the same tools and creative support that helped our mom achieve self-publishing success.
Her second novel, What Matters in Mayhew, was published by Obstinate Daughters Press in October 2016.
